Dome designs are perfect in terms of strength and safety, how children interact with the shape of the cover, how the cover looks in keeping in a natural setting and how the spacious interior of the cover allows wildlife to interact with the pond in a natural way.

The overall height is usually between 30cm and 90cm depending on the profile required and generally slightly higher for very large ponds. The dome shape is particularly suitable for schools as children can kneel at the edge, hold the bars and rest themselves on the cover. They can get really close to the action and see smaller creatures they might miss if they were standing. This also shades the waters surface, cutting out glare giving visibility deeper into the water.  Pond dipping is easy due to the space inside. Dipping is usually carried out between the bars and children are very capable of catching creatures to study. Fine "hands out" bars can be added if required, depending on the location in the grounds, for example if the pond is near collection points or within the main play area.
